Loving, hating and writer's block

How concerned should you be when you fall out of love with your work in progress? Is writer's block a genuine affliction or an affectation dreamed up to convince the world we're sensitive souls? Are there any lessons for writers of fiction in the research of a long-deceased English psychoanalyst and paediatrician?
My post is up this weekend on This Itch of Writing. Love it or loathe it, I'm sure you'll agree it's an honour and privilege to have my work on so illustrious a site.

I know how that feels, Anne, but don't dwell on it. You could try getting your head stuck in a 'good read'. I find that helps me quite a lot of the time. Although, of late, I've been finding it difficult to find one that's page-turning enough to keep me engrossed.

Perhaps I'm growing too fussy in my old age ...

Yes, getting lost in a good book can be very soothing, although a bad one is very irritating and, as a writer, I tend to read very critically. I'm just about to post one of my book pieces here – it's not exactly a review, but looking at psychologists in novels – but need to check it over again so it's sufficiently balanced!
