See what I've been reading lately and what I think about the books I've read

I read for entertainment and solace.

I read to improve my own writing (see here for
books for writers – and if you’re looking for reviews of my novels, see here for Sugar and Snails and here for Underneath).

I read to generate material for my blog,
Annecdotal, posting not only reviews but also themed extracts and musings on the process of reading.

Since I started reviewing, my book consumption has increased to well over 100 a year. (See my posts on how I read for reviews and what might make me give up on a novel.) I’m addicted to novels, especially literary fiction with psychological depth.

Before my own novels were published I focused mainly on
debuts, with Q&As with the authors of my favourites. Now I’m published by a small press I’m prioritising the independents: large, small and in between. As a former clinical psychologist, I’m also amassing a collection of fictional therapists.
